How do you work with clients with depression?
Therapy is just as “real” a treatment for depression as medication. It produces long-lasting changes in brain function that show up in brain imaging studies. It changes patters of connectivity between brain regions, enabling patients to exert more cognitive control over emotional reactivity. Patients also learn to identify the distorted thinking patterns that contribute to hopelessness and despair. By discovering their own resources for problem solving, patients are equipped to regain control of their life. Patients also learn to identify the kinds of inner and outer experiences that overwhelm them emotionally and set off the downward spiral of negative thinking and feeling that incapacitates them.
Welcome to Positive Changes Counseling where you are the driving force to make positive changes in your life. I will help be there to help guide you, mentor, and help you create positive and reachable goals to overcome any obstacles you might be struggling with any life changing events in your life. Working with a Solution-focused theory helps those with life changing events that are stressful and unmanageable. Those are going through career changes, divorce, or displaced homemakers. Or just someone who needs some help managing stress in their life. I will help you find solutions that will help you find the balance in your personal and professional life. I also use coaching, where there are no problems, only solutions. No diagnosis, no digging up the past, and no staying stuck. I use humor and accountability to get you to where YOU want to go. Living life on purpose. This approach is exceptionally helpful for relationship coaching, career changes, and stress reduction techniques.
