Hey there! I'm Lamar, but you can call me KaMu. I'm proudly an MFT Associate at the Multicultural Therapy Academy, working under the guidance of Dr. Pamela Reeves. After finishing my bachelor's degree in health administration and management, I gained valuable experience as an MRI technologist with a neuroscience research team specializing in Functional MRI at the University of Southern California Medical Center. This hands-on involvement intensified my enthusiasm for Psychology, which led me to pursue a master's degree. At the University of Capella, I completed my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, focusing on Counselling Psychology. Currently, I'm enrolled in a Doctoral program at Quantum University, where I'm diving into the profound art of holistic healing for the mind, body, and spirit. This includes studying various modalities like hypnosis, NLP, and Neurofeedback, among others. I'm a passionate Psychologist with comprehensive expertise in providing innovative treatment to help individuals navigate psychological and emotional obstacles. I'm committed to offering unwavering support throughout the entire process of diagnosing, evaluating, and implementing treatment. My approach integrates trauma-informed therapy, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I believe in delving into the depths of trauma's history, unveiling hidden patterns, and embarking on a journey of emotional restoration. By doing so, we can rediscover the joy of life, nurture relationships, and revive our spiritual and emotional well-being. Let's work together to make that happen!

“A span of life is nothing. But the man who lives that span, he is something. He can fill that tiny span with meaning, so its quality is immeasurable though its quantity may be insignificant.” – Chaim Potok, The Chosen “Every time we ask a question, we’re generating a possible version of a life.” – David Epston  Hi! I’m Jaime, and I’m honored to make your acquaintance. I am currently a graduate student in the Master of Arts Marriage and Family Therapy Program at National University. I am working under the supervision of Rosa Montoya, LMFT#115495. I have experience working with school-aged children in academic settings as an instructional assistant for special education. Additionally, as an MFT trainee, I have had the privilege of collaborating with children and teens who have experienced bullying and abuse to explore preferred identities. I also have a variety of lived experiences that have expanded my ability to question my assumptions, listen empathetically, and be curious. My life has been one in search for meaning. When I was younger, I thought that meaning came from the answers to life’s difficult questions like “What does my suffering say about me?”, “Who am I?”, and “How do I make a difference?” – and I searched for answers in many contexts, including spirituality, creative writing, art, music, and literature. My personal search for meaning and answers led me to volunteer for disaster relief in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami; while I was in Japan, I encountered what it was like to live in another culture and respect and value other ways of being. Since that experience, I have found that questions – not answers – hold a universe of possibilities and allow meaning to grow, change, and become with me. As a narrative therapist-in-training, I am passionate about exploring with you all the rich possibilities of becoming. I see life as a journey whose paths, detours, fellow travelers, luggage, and destinations are yours to choose, define, and relate to in ways that reflect your values and the meaning you wish to create. I hope to collaborate with you in questioning constrained descriptions of life to create more space for you to reauthor, explore, and discover new possibilities of being and becoming. It would be my honor to join with you in elevating and privileging your voice, experiences, knowledge, preferred meaning, and values in our conversations together. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to joining with you on your journey!
