How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients who have anxiety, I focus on building trust and creating a supportive environment. I use psychoeducation to help clients understand anxiety, employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge negative thoughts, and teach mindfulness and relaxation techniques for managing symptoms. Gradual exposure therapy may be used to reduce avoidance, and we set achievable goals together to promote progress. Ongoing support and encouragement help clients gain confidence and effectively manage their anxiety.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I have a deep passion for helping others navigate their mental health challenges and find healing. Witnessing the resilience and strength of my patients inspires me every day. My motivation comes from the transformative impact therapy can have on individuals' lives, and I find fulfillment in supporting them on their journey toward wellness. The opportunity to create a safe, trusting environment where clients can explore their emotions and grow is what drives me to continue in this rewarding field.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I would want to tell them that seeking therapy is a courageous step toward self-discovery and healing. It’s completely normal to feel hesitant or uncertain about the process, but therapy provides a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Remember, you don’t have to face your challenges alone; a therapist is there to support you, guide you, and help you find coping strategies that work for you. Everyone deserves to feel better and live a fulfilling life, and therapy can be a valuable tool in that journey. Taking the first step can lead to profound changes and a deeper understanding of yourself.
