About Agata
Hi, my name is Agata and I am licensed clinical social worker offering telehealth services in the state of Illinois for teens and adults. I am passionate about working with first generation immigrants or children of immigrants and members of the BIPOC population. I strive to offer compassionate, empathic and relational care to everyone I work with.
I have experience working with children, families and adults for issues with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, family conflict and trauma. I offer an in depth approach that really gets into the roots of why we seek out therapy and work collaboratively to ensure each individual feels heard and gets the most of our time together.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
It is perfectly normal, even expected to be nervous or hesitant to start therapy. It is actually a HUGE step to seek help in the first place! I applaud you for simply showing up. Additionally, I am bound by professional ethics to keep everything that is said private and confidential. Therapy is a great place to explore all of our "stuff" that gets in the way of being truly happy - it is hard work, but so worth it!
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
I always follow what my client feels is important to discuss on any given day. This means that I do not have a set agenda or plan for the session - the control lies in the clients hands. My role is to offer reflective questions and a caring environment to explore what is getting in the way of your healing.
What's your experience with psychoanalytic therapy?
I first became interested in psychoanalytic therapy in graduate school. I had read an article about the effectiveness of psychoanalytic and psych0dynamic approaches and I immediately became invigorated by the idea that by taking a deep look within, we can become aware of the sources of our problems and through insight into how we handle ourselves in stressful situations or as a result of trauma, we can begin to make changes in how we interact with others.
I have been practicing from only a psychoanalytic framework since graduating from my masters program in 2018. I use this theory to help me conceptualize why my clients are suffering and what we can do about it together. Psychoanalytic therapy allows me to take my time getting to know my clients beyond their initial reasons for seeking therapy. It offers a way of looking into their past experiences to help make sense of it for their future. It is deeply meaningful and humbling work to be able to share this experience with others.
