About Alejandra
I am bilingual (Spanish-speaking), bisexual, and Latina. I have 7+ years of experience working with children, teens, adults, and families with trauma backgrounds along with symptoms of depression and anxiety. I have had the privilege of providing therapy in community settings such as clients' homes and schools, as well as at a re-entry program. I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless of one's background or how one identifies themselves.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist so that I could help others learn more about themselves and why they do the things they do. Awareness is the first step towards making a change and more often than not, people lack the tools to develop self-awareness. I find myself motivated by how rewarding this field can be. It's an amazing feeling when I'm able to observe progress being made right before me (during a session with a client) and moreover, when a client notices positive changes in their life.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
As someone who has received therapy in the past, I acknowledge that starting therapy can feel scary or be anxiety-provoking (I felt the same way when I first sought therapy for myself some years ago). Please be kind and patient with yourself and know that these feelings are normal. It's a big step to take. I want you to know that YOU matter and whenever you're ready to try therapy, I'm here to listen. We'll navigate through the journey together and at your own pace.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I like to describe my therapeutic style as empowering, open-minded, and warm. I'm a very empathic person which makes it rather easy for me to connect with others on an individual basis.
