About Amanda

Hello reader, it takes a lot of courage to want to do the healing work. If you are reading this that means you. I believe we all have the capabilities to change and grow given the right tools and nurturing. We all have inherent worth and a lot us forget that truth and take in distorted perceptions that really get in the way from what we truly desire, our jobs, our relationships. I combine a person centered approach using a trauma informed methods with cognitive based approaches. Some of these approaches include art, IFS, empty chair, and techniques of somatic experiencing. I also have experience exploring family of origin and inner child work. If this sounds like a great fit, I would love to coordinate with you.

Couples Therapy

What's your experience with relationship counseling?

Couples counseling is outside my scope of practice however relational issues for clients I focus on attachment theory and use communication skill building to communicate needs effectively.
Child or Adolescent Therapy

What's your experience with children or adolescents?

I treat teens like I would my adult clients however I try to incorporate more of the family as that is where I find lasting outcomes if there is support from the family in cases where that is appropriate. With children there is more play therapy involved.

About Me

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

Approaches · EMDR

What's your experience with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)?

Ive found that it can be extremely helpful for some clients. However it may not be suitable for all. In my experience there needs a foundation of grounding and resourcing to be in a place emotionally to contain some of the work required for the trauma processing work.

Why is trauma processing important?

Specialties · Grief

How do you work with clients with grief?

I first do some psychoeducation around grief and discuss with them that the process is not linear and there can be good days and bad days. I then have them write a letter to bring into next session for some empty chair work.

How can you provide care remotely?

I email a link through simple practice which is HIPPA compliant and the sessions are confidential. Sessions are pretty much the same but within the comfort of your own home which makes it really accessible.
