About Amina
I bring extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting individuals of various ages and abilities. During my internship at an OASAS-run facility, I had the opportunity to help clients achieve their personal life goals while progressing through their treatment programs. This experience was invaluable in deepening my understanding of the therapeutic process. I felt drawn to the dynamic and client-centered nature of private practice, where I could offer a more personalized and flexible approach to therapy. Since transitioning to this setting, I've continued to grow in ways I never anticipated—both personally and professionally. I am deeply committed to fostering a supportive environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to achieve your goals.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Having grown up in a culture where discussing mental health and seeking help is still stigmatized, I am deeply passionate about breaking down these barriers. I believe that mental health challenges can manifest in various forms, including through physical health, and that seeking support is a courageous and vital step toward overall well-being. My ultimate goal is to not only establish my own private practice here in the United States, where psychoeducation and accessible care are more prioritized, but also to bring these resources to the country of my heritage. I am committed to expanding mental health education and providing valuable resources to communities that may not yet have access to them.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I am passionate about utilizing strengths-based approaches, narrative therapy, and positive psychology in my practice. These frameworks allow us to shift the focus toward your strengths, fostering resilience and growth rather than dwelling on challenges. I firmly believe that emphasizing the positives in our lives can be a transformative process. I take pride in maintaining a nonjudgmental and compassionate stance, creating a safe and supportive space for both adolescents and adults facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, and interpersonal issues. My goal is to collaborate with you in a way that promotes understanding, healing, and empowerment. I look forward to the opportunity to work together and support you on your journey toward positive change.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
I aim to create a space where you can reflect on your life’s journey, exploring the experiences that have shaped you into the person you are today. Through this process, we will work together to reframe and gain a deeper understanding of those pivotal moments, helping you see them from a new perspective. My goal is to empower you to rewrite your story in a way that aligns with your values, strengths, and aspirations, guiding you toward a more positive and fulfilling future. By fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, I am here to help you navigate challenges, uncover your inner resilience, and develop the tools necessary for lasting growth and well-being.
