How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients who experience anxiety, I take a holistic and personalized approach to ensure they feel supported and understood. The first step is creating a safe and comfortable space for them to express their concerns and fears. I work collaboratively with my clients to understand the root causes of their anxiety, as it can be influenced by many factors, including lifestyle, physical health, and emotional well-being.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I’ve always been passionate about helping others find balance and joy in their lives. Early in my nursing career, I realized the profound impact mental health has on overall well-being, and I wanted to be part of a field that helps people overcome their emotional and psychological challenges. What continues to motivate me is witnessing the transformation in my patients. Every time I see someone regain hope, find peace, or achieve their goals, it reminds me why I chose this path. Mental health care is not just about treating symptoms but understanding the whole person, and it’s incredibly rewarding to help someone discover their path to wellness. My holistic, patient-centered approach allows me to connect deeply with each individual, making the work not only meaningful but also a source of inspiration.
How do you work with clients with depression?
When working with clients experiencing depression, my approach is both compassionate and holistic. Depression can be deeply isolating, so I begin by offering a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and validated. Together, we explore not only the emotional and psychological aspects of depression but also physical and lifestyle factors that may contribute, like sleep patterns, nutrition, and stress.
I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify negative thought patterns and behaviors that might be reinforcing their depression. By restructuring these patterns, clients can begin to develop healthier perspectives. Alongside CBT, I may integrate mindfulness practices to encourage present-moment awareness, helping clients manage overwhelming feelings and regain a sense of control.
