As a clinician, I strive to be intelligent and warm, but also direct. I won't hide behind an anonymous exterior. My sessions are frequently punctuated by wit, insight and spontaneity. I try to be as authentic as possible while prioritizing your well-being and enhancing your capacity to change.

What's your experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?
I find CBT to be helpful as one tool of many. It's a concrete intervention that teaches us which thoughts trigger overwhelming feelings and then invites us to expand our thought process. Are you considering many different outcomes, or only the worst case scenario? I lean on CBT methods when people seem stuck in unhelpful feedback loops that intensify negative feelings.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My career allows me to be curious, thoughtful, serious and playful. And I appreciate how therapy brings out many sides of the self in both my patients and myself.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
It takes courage and hope to begin therapy. If the first therapist you meet doesn't feel like a good fit, that's okay. Fit is critical to therapy's success and you won't necessarily click with just anyone. Try to be discerning and listen to your gut.
What's your experience with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)?
I'm in the process of completing EMDR training through the Parnell Institute and plan to use this trauma treatment method in both teletherapy and in-person sessions very soon.
How can you provide care remotely?
Right now my sessions are entirely conducted via Zoom or FaceTime. I'm hopeful I can return to in-person sessions when it feels safe to do so.
