About Carline
My name is Carline Jean-Philippe. I’m a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years of experience in healthcare. I specialize in treating a wide range of mental health and primary care conditions across the lifespan. I am passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive care through both in-person and telemedicine services.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a Mental health provider because I’ve always been drawn to helping people find strength in their struggles and clarity in their chaos. With a background in both family and psychiatric care, I saw firsthand how mental health impacts every aspect of a person’s life—and how deeply healing it can be to feel truly heard and supported. What continues to motivate me is witnessing growth in my clients—the moment they begin to believe in themselves again, set healthy boundaries, or regain a sense of hope. It’s a privilege to walk alongside someone during their most vulnerable moments and empower them toward lasting change. Every day, I’m reminded that healing is possible, and that fuels my passion for this work.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients experiencing anxiety, I take a holistic, individualized approach. I begin by understanding their unique symptoms, triggers, and lifestyle factors through a thorough assessment. From there, I collaboratively develop a treatment plan that may include psychotherapy, medication management (if appropriate), and practical coping strategies. I often use evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and lifestyle modifications to help clients reduce anxiety, improve emotional regulation, and regain control. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, build resilience, and develop tools to manage anxiety in their everyday lives.
How do you work with clients with depression?
When working with clients experiencing depression, I take a compassionate, client-centered, and evidence-based approach. I begin by conducting a comprehensive assessment to understand the individual’s symptoms, history, and contributing factors—whether biological, psychological, or environmental. From there, I develop a personalized treatment plan that may include psychotherapy, medication management, or a combination of both. I often incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral activation, and supportive therapy to help clients challenge negative thought patterns, increase motivation, and reconnect with meaningful activities. I also explore lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, movement, and social connection, as these often play a key role in recovery. Throughout the process, I prioritize creating a nonjudgmental and safe space, empowering each client to move at their own pace while building tools for long-term emotional well-being.
How do you work with clients with addiction?
When working with clients facing addiction, I take a nonjudgmental, trauma-informed, and holistic approach. I understand that addiction is often a response to pain, not just a behavioral issue. My role is to help clients explore the underlying factors contributing to their substance use—such as trauma, mental health conditions, or life stressors—while supporting their journey toward recovery. Treatment may include medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate, alongside individual therapy, relapse prevention planning, and connection to community resources or support groups. I also integrate evidence-based approaches like motivational interviewing (MI) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients build insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and sustain long-term recovery. Above all, I create a safe, respectful space where clients feel empowered, understood, and supported—no matter where they are in their recovery process.
