About Cassie

I believe the therapy process is a marathon, not a sprint. Pacing and patience are key to the type of collaborative therapy I offer. In this “marathon”, I am open to discussing what tactics you want to use to create the change you want to see. As a counselor, I use myself as a vehicle for change in the therapeutic process. I bring a warm, personable, and laid-back nature to each session because I believe everyone needs a comfortable space to share their story. I push my clients in the direction of their goals, but I respect the importance of pacing and patience during the therapy “marathon”. I utilize an eclectic approach to meet you where you are. Some of these approaches include Adlerian, Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral and Mindfulness therapies. I have experience working with student-athletes and I know how difficult it is juggling academics, work, school, sports, and a personal life. I also enjoy working on self-esteem building. I invite not only student-athletes, but any adolescents and adults who are struggling with life's pressures. If you are looking for someone who will take the role of pushing you to meet your goals while still staying in your corner cheering you on, please feel free to reach out.

How does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work and how can it help?

Utilizing CBT can be a great way to challenge anxiety & depression. I like to utilize activities to practice reframing schemas. I occassionally will provide some psychoeducation about these topics in an attempt to provide you with a clear picture & understand the "why".

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I understand that life can be so messy. Oftentimes, we need a nonjudgmental place to share that mess. Therapy is a place where you can share, learn, and grow from the things in your life. Throughout my life, therapy has always been important. Being a counselor provides me with so much fulfillment, especially watching you grow and accomplish your goals.

How do you work with clients with relationship issues?

As humans, we are all relational beings. When you enter the therapy room, you not only are bringing yourself in but you are also bringing in the beliefs of your grandparents, parents, etc. I believe it is important to discuss these areas as they can have a major impact on our lives. Together we can navigate your relationships whether it is through boundary setting, learning communication skills, or realizing what is healthy vs unhealthy.

How does psychodynamic therapy work and how can it help?

I utilize this approach because we are all a product of our past. We are a product of our families, friends, & society striving for success & human connection. In sessions I will ask you about your relationships. We may complete activities such as creating a Genogram (like your family tree) to give me a sense of your familial story. From there, we can work toward your goals including how/what your are striving for with human connection.

How do you work with clients with self esteem issues?

I understand what it can be like to have a low-self esteem. When things do not go our way, there is conflict in our relationships, or we have a constant stream of rejection our self-esteem can become low. My hope is that you become comfortable with our relationship to guide me through the "lows" & "highs" to create a consistent postive self-esteem. Together, we can challenge your autmoatic thoughts or all-or-nothing thinking.
