www.bewellwashington.orgAbout Catherine
I have a passion for working with clients to heal the wounds of abuse, other traumas, or narcissism; work through family-of-origin and attachment issues; liberate from the confines of anxiety, panic, phobias, and OCD (or obsessive-compulsive tendencies); repair and/or heal from relational issues; develop effective boundary-drawing; transform self-concept/esteem; and grow to find peace, joy, purpose, and overall wellness. I offer a compassionate understanding of who you are, how you show up in the world, and how you experience things. I work with you to identify and build on the strengths within you while developing new strategies and uncovering new insights to help you heal, grow, and flourish. I am nurturing while also able to challenge long-held beliefs and patterns, which may be keeping you stuck or holding you back from the life you want to live. I wish you well on your journey!

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I was the person that people often talked to about the things they kept private. I loved supporting people and wanted to learn effective ways to help. I love what I have the privilege of doing every day!
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
You are worth it! I recommend asking a potential therapist for a free consultation because finding the right “fit” makes all the difference. This would also be a time to relay your reluctance to the therapist and see how the conversation about your hesitation feels to you. Listen to your gut. Perhaps consider meeting with a couple of providers for free consultations to see if you feel more at ease with one over the others. Give yourself grace about the process. It takes courage to begin therapy!
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
Sometimes people worry that, if they are completely open and honest, they will be judged. This often leads to holding painful or vulnerable things in secrecy and keeping people stuck. I believe strongly that we do things for reasons and see people through a compassionate lens. I consider it an extraordinary privilege to earn people’s trust and seek to understand the whole person as we work together towards healing, growth, and joy.
How can you provide care remotely?
I have an in-person office in downtown Tacoma, but I can very easily provide a link for telehealth whether you prefer that every time or you just need to change last minute in a pinch. Just let me know what works best for you!
