How do you work with clients with anxiety?

I offer a range of personalized treatment options to assist patients with anxiety. Through a comprehensive evaluation, I collaborate with patients to understand the root causes of their anxiety and develop a customized treatment plan to address their unique needs. Some of the treatment options I provide include therapy, medication management, as well as complementary and alternative approaches such as mindfulness and meditation, nutraceuticals, nutrition counseling, supplements, and lifestyle coaching. Additionally, I offer education and resources to help patients better comprehend their anxiety, enabling them to learn coping strategies for managing their symptoms. My goal is to empower our patients, encouraging them to play an active role in their own care and aiding them in achieving optimal mental and physical health.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I have delivered comprehensive care to my patients in the Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Center for Digestive Disorders of a large academic center. This is where my passion for the intersection of mental and metabolic/gut health began. I chose to study Family Medicine as I wanted to have a generalized understanding of health, with an emphasis on physical health, which led me to delve into psychiatry.

How do you work with clients with depression?

I also take a comprehensive and personalized approach to treating depression. I work with my patients to identify the underlying causes of their depression and develop a treatment plan that addresses their unique needs. My ultimate goal is to help my patients overcome their depression and achieve optimal mental and physical health, while also providing the support and guidance they need to maintain their well-being over time.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

I have had a broad range of experiences that have shaped me both as a clinician and in my roles as a wife, mother, and caretaker for a loved one. At times, this journey took a toll on me, largely due to feeling let down by the medical system with its often varying approaches – either being hands-off or applying a hammer to delicate and nuanced issues. The harsh reality of the medical system’s limitations was on full display, illustrating the sheer (and sometimes seemingly random) luck we have as patients in finding 'the right person' to advocate and fight with us for our well-being. This experience, coupled with my nursing background, has sharpened my skills in effectively advocating for patients within an overwhelming healthcare system.
