About Danielle
Life can be tough and there is so much that isn't under our control. Getting overwhelmed with emotions or self-critical thoughts only adds unnecessary suffering and therapy can help. I utilize a collaborative person-centered perspective that recognizes your expertise in your life. My practice is based upon use of mindfulness, narrative, cognitive and behavioral techniques to improve function in daily life. All of the work that I do is rooted in empathy and I am passionate about assisting clients through work, home and family stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, disability, grief and other life transitions.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I have always been interested in the internal lives of others. I have 10 years of experience as a social worker assisting those with chronic mental health struggles and 3 years providing therapy to adults experiencing challenging life stressors, loss, medical illness and other mental health diagnoses. No matter what life stage you are in, therapy can help you cope and learn to thrive.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Therapy provides a safe space to discuss any life challenge without judgement. That space provides the experience needed to change thinking patterns, problem solve solutions and reflect upon larger patterns in our lives so that clients can confidently apply those skills to their lives. No matter what kind of change you would like to see, therapy can help.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
As a grounded and positive therapist, I will be there with you as we safely explore your experiences, patterns and fears for how they might be limiting your life in the here and now. This work will identify your strengths, connect with your core values and help you use your power to get closer to who you want to be, no matter what life throws at you.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
A typical session usually begins with a 5 minute check in, followed by focused work on agreed upon topics that further my client's overall goals and cooperative discussion about activities or interventions that can be used outside of session to increase progress.
How can you provide care remotely?
I provide telehealth therapy in the state of VA. There are some conditions which may not be the most appropriate for remote care including those who might benefit from additional intervention by community case managers, medication management services or those experiencing suicidal ideation.
