How do you work with clients with depression?
When working with clients experiencing depression, my primary focus is to provide a compassionate and non-judgmental environment where they feel safe discussing their struggles. I begin with a thorough assessment to understand their unique symptoms, triggers, and any underlying factors contributing to their depression. This holistic approach allows me to develop an individualized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs.
I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and build practical coping skills. Motivational Interviewing is another important tool, as it helps clients explore their own reasons for making positive changes, which can be particularly helpful when motivation feels low.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients who have anxiety, my approach is to create a safe, supportive environment where they feel heard, validated, and empowered. I start with a comprehensive assessment to understand the client's unique experiences, triggers, and how anxiety affects their daily life. This helps me tailor an individualized treatment plan.
I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to anxiety. Through CBT, clients learn coping strategies, relaxation techniques, and practical skills to manage anxiety in their day-to-day lives. I also integrate Motivational Interviewing to help clients find internal motivation for change, which can be empowering in managing anxiety symptoms.
