Hi I'm Delondria but you can call me Catrice (my middle name). It is my intent to raise awareness about mental health issues. Why is it important (glad you asked)? Because it affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Let’s reduce the stigma related to mental illness. Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Seeing a person walk away lighter, freer, and excited to live their own personal journey after healing from wounds, disorders, and obstacles motivates me on a daily basis to continue as a therapist.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I understand that despite advancements in the cultural conversation around therapy, the stigma around the practice still looms. Talking to someone about mental health requires emotional sensitivity as well as physical sensitivity. I would explain to them the brighter side of treatment and how they can enjoy their life post sessions.
