How does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work and how can it help?
CBT can be helpful for so many struggles. I provide my clients with psychoeducation so that they can not only benefit from our work but also understand the meaning and science behind it. CBT allows clients to learn about how their thoughts impact their daily lives, work on understanding their thoughts, retrain their thinking, and improve anxiety, depression, and more.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I decided to become a therapist because I grew up watching people around me struggle with their mental health as well as substance abuse issues. Those people did not have anyone to help them and had little to no support. Those experiences made me develop a deep curiosity and compassion for people's individual stories. I have always been a person that people come to for advice and to share their deepest secrets. I take the responsibility very seriously, and I enjoy helping people feel more like themselves, validating their experiences, and providing a safe space.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I am a student of life for life! I am a doctoral candidate for prevention science of social science. My passion includes advocating for those who do not always have access to make changes that can improve their quality of life. Caring, being an ally, and helping others within my reach are my work. I love what I do!
