DNP, MSN, MBA, AGACNP-BC Hello! My name is Dr. Nichola Patton. I am a doctoral prepared Adult-Geriatric Acute Care NP licensed and board-certified to independently diagnose, treat, and prescribe to patients residing in the following States: AZ, CO, FL, IA, ID, KS, MD, NC, ND, NH, NM, NY, UT, VA, VT, WY.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with patients who have anxiety, I use a calm, non-judgmental tone and focus on making them feel heard and safe. I normalize what they’re experiencing by reminding them that anxiety is common and treatable, and I let them guide the conversation at their own pace. I ask open-ended questions like, “What’s been weighing on you lately?” and “How is this affecting your day-to-day?” I offer reassurance and explore both natural and medical treatment options without pressure. My goal is to help them feel supported, informed, and in control of their care, one step at a time.
How do you work with clients with weight loss issues?
When working with clients who struggle with weight loss, I focus on creating a supportive, personalized plan that feels realistic and sustainable. I start by listening and understanding their goals, challenges, lifestyle, and medical history without judgment. I explain how medications, nutrition, movement, sleep, and mindset all play a role, and we work together to choose a plan that fits their life. I emphasize progress over perfection and celebrate small wins along the way. My approach is evidence-based but flexible, helping each client feel empowered, accountable, and cared for throughout their weight loss journey.
