About Elizabeth
Hello! I am a LLMFT that loves to genuinely get to know people, what makes them who they are and what ones' journey has encompassed before I met you. I am a wife, mother, military spouse and someone who loves to be outside as much as possible.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I chose to pursue becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist because I was intrigued by why relationships function in the manner that they do and that there is not consistency across the board. I was very curious to have these questions answered as well as to learn how to assist in providing support, skills/interventions, but with evidence to support what I was doing. All that, in a very short summary is why I began the journey, but ultimately I have found myself very passionate about this profession and working with couples.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
I work with clients that are experiencing anxiety by first learning how anxiety is functioning within oneself, and what the triggers are that are causing the spikes in each clients symptoms. Once that is understood, I begin to assist in reducing the symptoms through interventions and building a new skills set, and work with the client in learning what works to diminish the symptoms.
How does couples therapy work and how can it help?
For couples I typically do a consultation to ensure that the goals being sought are something that I have experience in accomplishing. After the consult the intake is scheduled. Following that session each person will have an individual session so that I may fully understand each perspective and avoid shame or blame towards either partner. After that we begin sessions with both people present working towards the goal.  :)
