About Ezechiel
Hello! I'm a dedicated and certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with a doctorate degree in nursing practice (DNP). I have great experience in diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. I graduated from Florida International University (FIU), one of the most prestigious state universities in Florida. My passion is to help people with mental illnesses such as major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia...etc. I did my internship at Delray Center for Healing, a well-known outpatient mental health facility located in Delray Beach, Florida. Under the supervision of my preceptor, I was involved in patient intakes, treatment planning, medication management, brief psychotherapy, and follow ups for patients with mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Then, after my graduation, I started working for different employers as a psych NP. Before my psych NP career, I was a registered nurse for over 10 years. I began my nursing career at Boulevard Rehabilitation Center, where I served as a Licensed Practical Nurse in long-term care and rehabilitation units, before moving on to a staff RN role at Lakeside Medical Center in the Med/Surg and Tele units. Then, I continued my nursing journey at Boca Raton Reginal Hospital where I played different roles, including relief charge nurse and staff RN. As a relief charge nurse, I used to organize the unit, provide direct patient care, and administer medications. I also educated patients / family members and collaborated with interdisciplinary staff to ensure the best outcomes for my patients. I continue to stay engaged in research and have a keen interest in the impact of social media on mental well-being. My academic pursuits include aiming for a PhD in the future. *Specialties •Psychiatry •Mental Health *Conditions treated •Depression •Anxiety •Bipolar disorders •Schizophrenia •PTSD •ADHD •Addiction •Insomnia •Mood disorders •Panic attacks •OCD •Anger Management •Female Psychiatry •Obsessive-Compulsive •Pediatric Psychiatry •Trauma and PTSD •Geriatric Psychiatry •Alcohol Use •Autism •Borderline Personality (BPD) •Chronic Impulsivity •Dementia •Eating Disorders •Hoarding •Oppositional Defiance (ODD) •Schizoaffective disorders •Polysubstance Use •Sleep or Insomnia •Substance Use *Practice description We do initial psychiatric evaluation, follow-up, and brief individual psychotherapy for all age groups as regulated by the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice. How does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work and how can it help?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) works by helping individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress and problematic behaviors. Through structured sessions, clients learn to recognize how their thoughts influence their feelings and actions. By changing these patterns, CBT can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. It’s an evidence-based approach that empowers clients to develop healthier thinking and coping strategies, leading to improved mental well-being and daily functioning.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients with anxiety, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help them identify and challenge anxious thoughts. Together, we explore how these thoughts influence their feelings and behaviors, and I teach coping strategies to manage anxiety more effectively. Additionally, I may incorporate relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and medication management as needed to support their treatment and promote a sense of calm and control.
How do you work with clients with depression?
When working with clients with depression, I use a client-centered approach, often incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help them understand how their thoughts impact their emotions. Together, we identify negative thought patterns and develop strategies to challenge and change them, aiming to improve mood and overall well-being. I also provide medication management when necessary to support their treatment plan.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
People considering working with me should know that I am a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing personalized care. My approach is client-centered, often utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and brief psychotherapy to help individuals navigate mental health challenges effectively.
How can you provide care remotely?
I provide care remotely through telehealth services, allowing patients to receive psychiatric evaluations, follow-ups, and brief psychotherapy from the comfort of their homes.
How does christian counseling work and how can it help?
Christian counseling integrates psychological principles with Christian faith and biblical teachings. It helps individuals by addressing mental health issues through a spiritual lens, offering guidance rooted in Christian values. This approach can provide comfort, moral support, and a sense of purpose, helping clients align their thoughts and behaviors with their faith while working through challenges like anxiety, depression, or life transitions. It’s particularly beneficial for those who seek to incorporate their religious beliefs into their mental health journey.
