About Honor

Hello! I'm Honor Schleicher, a dedicated counselor and social worker based in New York. With a Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University, I specialize in advanced clinical practice. I'm passionate about providing empathetic and solution-focused care to individuals and families dealing with mental illness and substance use disorders. I currently work with Healing Our Parts therapy practice where I see individual and couples clients. At my previous employment, I worked with dual diagnosis mental health and substance use concerns. My approach is all about being there for my clients, guiding them through challenging times with compassion and expertise. Before this role, I gained valuable experience working with students in various educational settings in New York and Kansas. My work included individual counseling, crisis intervention, and helping students achieve their best in both personal and academic aspects. I’m committed to continuing education and have completed important trainings, including TF-CBT and Naloxone Certification. I am currently working towards EMDR certification but am not yet certified as an EMDR practitioner. *Treatment philosophy Treatment Philosophy I believe in a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I became a therapist to help others navigate life’s challenges, heal from pain, and discover their strengths. What motivates me to continue is witnessing the resilience and growth of my clients as they overcome obstacles and create meaningful, fulfilling lives.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

I wish I could tell them that therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space to explore their thoughts and feelings. It's not about being "broken" but about having support to navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and create positive change at their own pace.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

People considering working with me should know that I approach therapy with empathy, collaboration, and a focus on solutions. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where we can work together to navigate challenges, build resilience, and achieve meaningful growth.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?

Therapy sessions with me are compassionate and collaborative. We’ll explore your challenges, set goals, and work through them using evidence-based techniques like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. Each session is tailored to your needs in a supportive, judgment-free space.

How do you work with clients with eating disorders?

I work with clients with eating disorders by fostering a compassionate, non-judgmental environment. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness to address underlying emotions, challenge negative thought patterns, and promote a healthier relationship with food and self.

How do you work with clients with depression?

I work with clients with depression by providing a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore their feelings. Using techniques like CBT, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches, we focus on identifying thought patterns, building coping skills, and fostering hope.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?

I work with clients with anxiety by creating a safe, supportive space to explore their experiences. Using evidence-based approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and grounding techniques, we identify triggers, build coping skills, and develop strategies to manage anxiety.

How can you provide care remotely?

I provide care remotely through secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms, ensuring confidentiality and convenience. Remote sessions allow flexibility while maintaining the same level of support, compassion, and personalized care as in-person therapy.
