About Jacob

I am an LMHC psychotherapist with almost two decades of experience. I work independently, primarily with adults and couples, while also working with children and adolescents. I am now offering couples intensives, which are one- to three-day focused psychotherapy sessions designed to give couples more time and space to work on their relationship in a shorter period of time. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, while also making space to understand the deeper patterns that can keep people stuck. I draw from several modalities, including CBT, psychodynamic, attachment-based, Gottman-informed, systems-based, and existential therapies. Over the years, I have found that no single approach works for everyone, so I draw from my experience across different modalities to find what is most helpful for each client or couple. My goal is to help people better understand themselves and their relationships and make meaningful changes that last.

Approaches · Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

How does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work, and what do sessions look like?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In sessions, we may identify patterns of thinking or behavior that contribute to distress and work together to develop more helpful ways of responding. CBT is collaborative and practical, often including exercises, reflection, and strategies to practice between sessions. The goal is to build greater awareness and practical tools that support meaningful, lasting change.
Approaches · Solution Focused Brief (SFBT)

How does solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) work, and what do sessions look like?

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy focuses on identifying what is already working and building on strengths, resources, and possibilities for change. Rather than spending extensive time exploring the origins of a problem, sessions focus on your goals, what you want to be different, and the small steps that can move you forward. We may explore exceptions to problems, past successes, and practical strategies that can be used between sessions.
