Hello! My name is Jaima Byrd, and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Anderson, IN. With over two decades of nursing experience, my passion is helping people achieve better mental health.
I completed my Master's in Nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University and have a Bachelor's in Nursing from Anderson University. My journey has taken me through various roles, including working at hospitals, outpatient clinics, and even doing home assessments for insurance companies.
Currently, I serve the community at Jane Pauley Community Health Center, where I specialize in mental health care. Before this, I contributed to Aspire Indiana’s outpatient clinic and Bridges of Hope Treatment Center helping many individuals on their path to wellness.
I hold my Board Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health. My diverse background spans critical care, emergency rooms, rehab units, detox, and much more, giving me a well-rounded perspective on patient care.
Outside of work, I love volunteering at the Salvation Army and the Christian Center Men’s Homeless Shelter. I'm dedicated to making a positive impact both professionally and personally.
I look forward to meeting you and working together towards achieving your mental health goals!

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I am a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing safe, personalized mental health care. With over 20 years in nursing across various settings, I use evidence-based practices and a collaborative approach to meet each client's unique needs. My goal is to empower clients on their wellness journey in a supportive, understanding environment.
How do you work with clients with depression?
In working with clients who experience depression, I focus on creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can openly discuss your feelings and challenges. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we explore how negative thought patterns may impact mood and behavior, helping to reframe these in ways that promote positive change. I also integrate Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to help you stay grounded and manage depressive symptoms in the present moment. Motivational Interviewing can be effective in reigniting motivation, while Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) fosters acceptance and personal values as guides for moving forward. My goal is to empower you with coping tools and strategies tailored to your unique needs, helping you achieve lasting relief and improved well-being.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients experiencing anxiety, I take a supportive, individualized approach to help them understand and manage their symptoms effectively. I utilize evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address negative thought patterns, as well as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to promote present-moment awareness and reduce stress. Motivational interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are also helpful in building coping strategies and resilience. By creating a safe and open environment, we can work together to identify triggers, build healthy coping skills, and empower you to feel more in control of your anxiety.
How can you provide care remotely?
I can provide remote care through telehealth sessions, allowing you to receive mental health support from the comfort of your home. Telehealth enables us to connect via secure video or phone calls, ensuring privacy and convenience while maintaining the quality of care. In these sessions, we can address a variety of mental health concerns, from therapy to medication management, using evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs. This approach can be especially beneficial for clients with busy schedules, limited mobility, or those who prefer a more flexible setting.
