Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist after the realization people need someone to walk with them into the places they have kept to themselves for so long. When you need someone to sit with you, to explore those things that make you question yourself, need a judgment free space, want possible truths you cannot see because you are overwhelmed with the details, I will go with you on that journey. I am motivated to provide you with a strong, accepting, supportive person to get to the skills you did not have the chance to develop before this moment.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
When you are hesitant to try therapy know it is completely acceptable to fire a therapist who you do not click with. Ask as many questions as you want or need and know that not all therapists are the same. It is about you and what you need so your therapist is a support person, a guide, who should tailor a program for you.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I tailor my approach to your needs and adjust to meet you. Individuals, relationships, and couples need specialized approaches for their unique situations so my therapeutic approaches incorporate healing through an eclectic multifaceted, identity-focused lens. I will pull from solution focused, CBT, narrative, and positive psychoanalysis practices, to start, and I work from a strength-based perspective.
I welcome people dealing with all types of issues, military, trauma, LGBTQIA+ challenges, men's issues and women's issues. I want to make it easier for you, by offering safety and acceptance. What do therapy sessions with you look like?
A therapy session with me is based on your needs in that moment. We will start out with some light catching up about the things that have gone on in your world between sessions. This helps to set the tone and ease you into the items you want to address that day. Sometimes we will go deep and others will be more about practice and skill building.
How can you provide care remotely?
I am as animated on screen as I am off screen. It is up to me to tailor a system of online therapy that will work for your individual needs. I will use talk therapy, Q&A, some innovative meditations/affirmations, holistic approaches, and even exercises/homework (client approved), to engage you and help progress your skills and coping mechanisms. I use video (Zoom Meetings) and phone sessions to support my clients.
