About Jean
I know that seeking out therapy can feel overwhelming and uncomfortable, so I’m glad you’re here! I believe counseling is a collaborative process based on honesty, respect, and empowerment in which we work together toward the change you desire. I also believe in authenticity, flexibility, and meeting you where you are. So, please come as you are – there are no expectations here! Additionally, I believe that YOU drive the bus in this therapeutic journey. I recognize that you are the expert of your own experience. My role as a guide is to help you gain long-term, life-changing tools so you can shape your life into the one you desire. I have an eclectic approach to counseling and use cognitive behavioral therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), emotionally focused therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, schema therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and written exposure therapy for trauma. I am a military-informed clinician. Specific areas of clinical experience include anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorder, trauma and PTSD, issues related to dysfunctional family systems, family of origin issues, and victims of domestic violence and abuse. Everyone's story matters. Let's explore your story so you can have the growth and healing you deserve.
How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist and a Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) therapist. I work with on helping clients with trauma learn to regulate their nervous system at the beginning of treatment as the first stage of treatment. Additionally, my clients have reported positive and lasting changes with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidenced-based, efficient therapy for PTSD and other psychiatric conditions. It is derived from Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The NREPP (National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices), a subsidiary of SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), determined that accelerated resolution therapy is an effective form of treatment for PTSD.
