How does couples therapy work and how can it help?

In couples therapy, I help both partners communicate more effectively and understand each other’s perspectives. We focus on identifying patterns that might be causing tension and work on healthier ways to navigate disagreements. The sessions are a space to express feelings, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. Couples therapy can be a powerful tool for improving communication, resolving conflicts, and deepening the bond between partners.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?

When working with clients who experience anxiety, I begin by conducting a comprehensive assessment to understand their symptoms, triggers, and personal history. This allows me to tailor a treatment plan that suits their individual needs. I often incorporate evidence-based therapeutic approaches, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, to help clients develop effective coping strategies. If appropriate, I may also prescribe medications to alleviate their symptoms and provide ongoing medication management. Educating clients about anxiety and its effects is an essential part of my approach, as it empowers them to recognize and manage their experiences. Ultimately, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns, allowing for a more meaningful therapeutic relationship and effective treatment.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I became a therapist because I’m passionate about helping people heal and grow. What motivates me to continue is seeing the positive impact therapy can have on someone’s life and their ability to overcome challenges. That transformation is what drives me every day.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

If you're hesitant to try therapy, I’d encourage you to see it as a supportive, judgment-free space where you can focus on yourself. It’s a chance to understand your thoughts and feelings better and learn tools to navigate life’s challenges. Therapy is about taking that first step toward personal growth, at your own pace.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?

In my therapy sessions, I create a safe, welcoming space where you can share openly. We’ll work together to explore what’s on your mind, and I’ll tailor the approach to your needs, whether it’s using techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, or behavior modification. My focus is on helping you feel comfortable, understood, and supported throughout the process.
