Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I chose to become a therapist because of my genuine passion for helping others and my deep understanding of the interconnectedness between mental health and overall well-being. Throughout my nursing career, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that mental health issues can have on individuals and their families. This inspired me to pursue advanced training and specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing, with the goal of making a meaningful difference in the lives of those struggling with mental illness. What motivates me to continue is the opportunity to witness the resilience and growth of my patients as they overcome obstacles and achieve their treatment goals. Every success story reinforces my commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care and advocating for mental health awareness and support.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

To those who may feel hesitant about trying therapy, I want to emphasize that seeking help is a courageous and empowering step towards improving one's mental health and overall quality of life. Therapy offers a safe and non-judgmental space to explore and address difficult emotions, thoughts, and experiences. It provides valuable tools and strategies for coping with stress, managing symptoms, and fostering personal growth. I encourage individuals to approach therapy with an open mind, knowing that they deserve support and are not alone in their struggles. As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I am here to provide guidance, validation, and practical solutions to help individuals navigate life's challenges and thrive.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

I bring over 12 years of nursing experience and a deep understanding of the critical role mental health plays in overall well-being. With a Bachelor of Science from Capella University and a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington, I am equipped with both academic knowledge and practical expertise to address a wide range of mental health concerns. My treatment approach is grounded in personalized care plans tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals. I prioritize open communication, empathy, and collaboration, recognizing the importance of building trusting relationships with my patients. Whether it's through therapy, medication management, or supportive interventions, I am committed to supporting my patients on their journey to mental wellness.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?

Initial Visit - 45 minutes An initial visit involves a medical history review, an assessment of your specific symptoms and concerns, and possible diagnostic tests to evaluate a patient's health, identify issues, and develop and discuss treatment options. Follow-up Visit - 30 minutes A follow-up visit involves checking the progress of the patient's treatment plan, assessing any new symptoms or concerns, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed to ensure optimal health outcomes. Medication Refill - 15 minutes A medication refill appointment typically involves a brief review of existing patient's medical history, confirming the need for the medication refill, and issuing a new prescription. It may also involve evaluating any side effects or concerns related to the medication and ensuring that the treatment plan is still appropriate for the patient's needs.

How can you provide care remotely?

In my practice at One Behavioral, I've embraced remote care as an integral part of delivering comprehensive mental health services. Through telemedicine platforms, I'm able to offer virtual appointments that prioritize convenience and accessibility for my patients. Utilizing secure video conferencing technology, I conduct assessments, provide therapy, and manage medication regimens, all while ensuring the same level of professionalism and confidentiality as in-person visits. Remote care allows me to reach individuals who may face barriers to accessing traditional healthcare, whether due to geographic distance, mobility limitations, or busy schedules. By leveraging digital tools and electronic health records, I ensure seamless continuity of care for my patients, regardless of their location.
