Approaches · Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)

How does acceptance and commitment (ACT) work, and what do sessions look like?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on helping clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions while identifying what is meaningful and important to them. Instead of trying to eliminate every uncomfortable thought or feeling, ACT encourages acceptance, awareness, and flexibility. During sessions, we may explore thoughts, emotions, behaviors, values, and life experiences that may be contributing to feeling stuck. Together, we identify meaningful goals and practical steps that support healthier ways of responding. The goal is to help clients move toward a more fulfilling life while learning to navigate difficult experiences with greater self-awareness and compassion.
Specialties · Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD)

What's your approach to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and what does progress look like for clients?

My approach to OCD is compassionate, patient-centered, and focused on helping clients better understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors may be connected. I work with clients to identify patterns that may contribute to distress while developing healthier ways to cope with anxiety and difficult emotions. Progress can look different for everyone, but may include increased self-awareness, improved emotional regulation, greater confidence in managing symptoms, and feeling more able to engage in daily life without being controlled by distressing thoughts or behaviors.
