About Joannie
If you’ve ever felt like your mental health care focused more on managing symptoms than understanding why you feel the way you do, you’re not alone. My approach starts with meeting you where you are, listening closely to your story, and helping you rebuild wellness from the inside out.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with an integrative and functional approach to psychiatry. I work with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD and focus concerns, burnout, sleep difficulties, hormonal or menstrual-related mood changes such as PMDD, and those who may feel frustrated after trying treatments that haven’t fully helped.
Rather than rushing to a diagnosis or prescription, I take time to understand the bigger picture. We may explore sleep, nutrition, stress, hormones, metabolic health, nutrient deficiencies, medications, lifestyle, relationships, and other factors that can influence how you feel. When appropriate, treatment may include psychiatric medication, psychotherapy, targeted nutritional or lifestyle strategies, supplements, laboratory evaluation, or a thoughtful combination of approaches.
I also have a special interest in helping people who want to better understand their medications, reduce unnecessary medication burden, or explore carefully planned tapering when clinically appropriate.
You deserve a space where you can ask questions, understand your options, and participate fully in decisions about your care. My goal is not simply to help you feel “less symptomatic,” but to understand what may be contributing to how you feel and build a treatment plan that makes sense for you and your life.

Approaches · Mindfulness-Based (MBCT)
How does mindfulness-based therapy (MBCT) work, and what do sessions look like?
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) combines mindfulness practices with cognitive therapy to help you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and patterns without immediately reacting to them. Sessions provide a supportive space to explore what you are experiencing, recognize unhelpful patterns, and develop practical skills for responding with greater awareness and intention.
Progress may look like feeling less overwhelmed by difficult thoughts or emotions, improving your ability to stay present, and developing healthier ways to manage stress and everyday challenges. Mindfulness practices can also become useful tools that you carry into your daily life between sessions.
Specialties · ADHD
What's your approach to ADHD, and what does progress look like for clients?
My approach to ADHD is individualized and focuses on understanding the whole person rather than simply treating symptoms. I take time to explore concerns such as focus, organization, motivation, sleep, stress, mood, lifestyle, and other factors that may affect attention and executive functioning. When appropriate, treatment may include medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle strategies, nutritional considerations, or a combination of approaches.
Progress can look different for everyone. It may include improved focus and organization, better follow-through, reduced overwhelm, improved emotional regulation, and greater confidence in managing daily responsibilities. My goal is to help you develop a treatment plan that fits your needs and supports your overall well-being.
