How does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work and how can it help?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps individuals recognize and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. Through collaboration with a therapist, CBT teaches practical coping skills, promotes realistic thinking, and empowers individuals to take active steps toward positive change, leading to improved mental health and well-being.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
I work with clients with anxiety by using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and gradually expose them to anxiety-provoking situations in a safe and controlled manner. My approach is holistic and strengths-based, ensuring that we build on the client's existing strengths and resources to manage and reduce anxiety effectively.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I am passionate about helping people overcome their struggles and achieve healthier, more fulfilling lives. With 25 years of experience, I specialize in addressing addictions and use a strengths-based, holistic approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). What motivates me is witnessing the transformative power of therapy and the resilience of my clients as they learn healthier coping skills and make meaningful changes. Offering both a faith-based and psychological approach enhances my work, helping clients live more victorious and balanced lives. Treating every client with compassion, respect, and empathy is at the core of my practice.
How do you work with clients with depression?
I work with clients with depression by providing a supportive and empathetic environment where we explore the underlying causes of their symptoms. Using evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we challenge negative thought patterns, develop coping skills, and set achievable goals to improve mood and overall well-being. Additionally, I incorporate holistic approaches to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of depression, helping clients find a path towards healing and recovery.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
For those hesitant to try therapy, I wish I could tell them that therapy is a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. It's a collaborative process tailored to your unique needs, helping you gain insights, develop healthier coping skills, and find practical solutions to your challenges. Therapy can lead to profound personal growth and a more balanced, fulfilling life. Taking the first step might feel daunting, but it's a courageous move towards healing and self-improvement. You don’t have to face your struggles alone—support is available, and it can make a significant positive difference.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
People considering working with me should know that I bring 25 years of counseling experience to the table, specializing in addiction therapy and utilizing evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I offer a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their challenges and work towards positive change. My commitment to the Golden Rule ensures that every client is treated with compassion, respect, and empathy throughout their therapeutic journey.
What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me are collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your unique needs, focusing on developing healthier coping skills and finding practical solutions through a strengths-based, holistic approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
How can you provide care remotely?
I provide remote care through secure online platforms, offering video sessions that replicate the in-person therapy experience. Through these virtual sessions, I conduct assessments, facilitate discussions, and deliver evidence-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Additionally, I offer support via phone calls, emails, or messaging platforms, ensuring continuous access to care and guidance. By leveraging technology, I can provide effective counseling services to individuals across Florida, regardless of their location or mobility restrictions.
