About Jon-Paul
Hi, I’m Jon-Paul Bird, a couples therapist with over 13 years of experience helping partners rebuild connection, improve communication, and navigate stress together. I combine Emotion Focused Therapy, mindfulness, CBT, and somatic approaches to create a safe, supportive space where couples can grow closer and strengthen their relationship.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I value connection and service. Being able to support people through their challenges and witness their growth is deeply meaningful to me. Helping couples heal and strengthen their relationships not only impacts their lives, but also uplifts families and communities, making the world a little better for everyone.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I’d tell them that therapy isn’t about being “broken” or having something wrong with you—it’s about giving yourself the space to understand your thoughts, emotions, and relationships in a supportive environment. You don’t have to have all the answers to start; therapy is a place to explore, grow, and learn new ways of handling life’s challenges. Even small steps can create meaningful change, and you don’t have to do it alone.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I’m here to help, and I bring over a decade of experience to support your healing and growth. My approach is collaborative—I work with you, not just “on” you. Together, we’ll explore what’s getting in the way, build on your strengths, and create a path forward that feels meaningful and sustainable.
