How does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work and how can it help?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In CBT, we work together to identify negative or unhelpful thought patterns and replace them with more balanced perspectives. This approach helps reduce anxiety, improve mood, and build healthier coping strategies.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with clients experiencing anxiety, I focus on helping them understand the thoughts and patterns that contribute to their anxiety while teaching practical tools to manage it. We work on building emotional awareness, learning coping strategies, and developing healthier ways to respond to stress and uncertainty.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I’ve always been passionate about helping people feel understood and supported during difficult moments in their lives. What motivates me to continue is seeing clients gain insight, build resilience, and make meaningful changes that improve their emotional well-being and relationships.
How do you work with clients with depression?
When working with clients experiencing depression, I focus on creating a supportive space where they feel understood and not alone. Together we explore underlying emotions, thought patterns, and life stressors while developing practical strategies to improve mood, increase motivation, and reconnect with meaningful parts of life.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
It’s completely normal to feel hesitant about starting therapy. You don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. Therapy is simply a space to talk openly, feel heard, and begin understanding what you’re going through at your own pace.
How does eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) work and how can it help?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach designed to help people process distressing memories and experiences. It uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while recalling certain memories, helping the brain reprocess them so they feel less overwhelming and emotionally charged.
What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me are collaborative and supportive. We spend time exploring what’s been weighing on you, understanding patterns in your thoughts and emotions, and developing practical tools to help you manage challenges and feel more grounded in your daily life.
