What's your experience with clients with anxiety?
We will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to identify thought patterns that contribute to worry, anxiety, and panic. There are many techniques in therapy and meditation that can be used to work with calming the nervous system so that we have access to our thoughts and beliefs that can be changed.
If client's feel comfortable with energy healing, I can also use Pranic healing to change the energy structures of thoughts and energy causing continued worry and fear that is present in the persons energy field. This can cause instant relief.
What's your experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?
Yes, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps clients to be able to start to see their own beliefs and thought patterns that consistently cause problems in their life. Once we can start to identify what those things are, we can start to make changes to the internal thoughts and emotions.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Growing up people came to talk with me since I was in grade school. People would tell me the things they didn't want to tell other people. It was natural for me to want to learn about human behavior and emotions. I got an MSW from Wayne State University in 2004 and became a social worker. My interests have varied throughout my career but I love being able to help people to create a life they love and that starts with learning to master our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in relationships as well as learning to listen to and trust ourselves and our intuition.
What's your experience with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)?
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy in my practice and I love the skills and use them myself in my life everyday. I ran a DBT group in the past and use the skills in my practice. They are a great help to anyone and I welcome and love to work with clients who have received a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Therapy is the best investment of your energy, your time, and your money you can invest because you are investing in the thing nobody can ever take from you, yourself and your mental health. It doesn't mean there is something wrong with you, it means there is something right. It means you have the courage to make the changes you need to be effective and happy as a person and create a better life for yourself. It seems like we create our lives from the outside in but really the opposite is true. Whatever is happening within us will eventually manifest in our outer reality. When we are happy with ourselves, have a positive concept of ourselves, are able to see the things that happen with other people and situations in our lives from a state of reality and I mean a reality that gives people and situations the benefit of the doubt and leans toward positivity, are able to have positive boundaries, and handle situations in an effective way that get's us results in life our outer reality can change. When we see life through a lens of clarity instead of cognitive distortions and false beliefs we can start to manifest the love, the abundance, the things we say we need in life to be happy.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I have been where you are. I can empathize with you because I created Burnout Relief because I am burnout relief. I understand what it feels like to experience emotional pain, stress, fear and worry and grief. I've been through job burnout as a social worker and I've struggled in relationships as well.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
We will spend the first session getting to know each other a little bit. You can ask me questions about who I am and tell me about yourself. Then we will talk about the things you want to get out of therapy. 6 months from now, what do you want your inner and your outer life to look like. Let's really look into that and go deep. Also, I will tell you a little about the techniques I use to help people and we can talk about which ones you feel comfortable with and what's right for you at this time. I do everything from traditional psychotherapy using cognitive behavioral techniques to more spiritual techniques like pranic healing.
What's your experience with relationship counseling?
Married and couples in long-term relationships come to counseling as a last effort. I have helped couples to be able to evaluate where they are and if their relationship can grow or they want to go their separate ways. I also work with couples of any sexual orientation and other non-romantic relationships as well such as with a family member or friends. I do not work with children/teens under 18. I help couples learn to re-establish a feeling of empathy for one another, stop the blame and anger patterns, and learn to communicate and interact with each other in a different way.
How can you provide care remotely?
I provide care on a platform called Therapy notes. when you start therapy I will ask you to join me as a client. You will get registered in the therapy notes system ( it is completely confidential and nobody has access expect me and you to your file) and you will be sent a link to get on the session.
