For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Reaching out for help can be really scary! It's important to know you're not alone. If you're struggling with a particular emotion or experience, chances are someone else in your life is too.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
The first session is an intake session- a "get to know you" session. I'll ask questions to enhance my understanding of who you are as a person, what you are looking to get out of counseling, what approaches have worked for you in the past if you have been to counseling before, and what your therapeutic goals are.
All sessions afterward are geared toward reaching your goals. I encourage my clients to practice mindfulness, body attunement, and other skills in session so they have a firm understanding of how to do them outside of session.
