About Keadra
I was raised in Austin, Texas, and moved to Houston 12 years ago. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Speech Communication. I received my Master’s degree in Social Work with a focus on mental health. I worked with Child Protective Services for 4 years before obtaining my licensure in social work. I work with families battling substance abuse, child neglect, and child abuse. I've worked with high school youth, teaching and discussing sex education topics including consent, healthy relationships, safe sex, and general financial literacy. I have also collaborated with the National Suicide Prevention Line, assisting individuals during the crises that arise in their lives.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I decided to pursue counseling to help individuals and families build better communication and understanding among each other.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Life can be full of many challenges that often present themselves at the most unexpected times. We are often not prepared to deal with these challenges, but I will be here to help you find a way to get through them by reaching out for assistance, which will help us defeat them.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I provide a safe, confidential, and enabling environment for my clients to overcome or manage life challenges through strength, knowledge, and resilience. I desire to work with my clients to assist in healing from trauma and building self-worth. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to clients to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. My clients are truly heard, seen, and valued for their individuality.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
A therapy session with me involves setting goals, prioritizing needs/wants, well-being assessment as needed to ensure optimal mental health outcomes. My therapeutic approach is to evaluate each person and provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. Each treatment is individualized to meet the needs of the person to create, encourage and empower personal growth.
