What's your experience with children or adolescents?

I have many years of working with young individuals. At this time however, I am not seeing young children and I am seeing individuals of the age of 14 and older. I have worked with adolescents for years and often being a registered art therapist is helpful in having a variety of methods and approaches to engage with someone instead of only relying on verbal exchanges.

What's your experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?

I have utilized CBT techniques since graduate school. I use the approach to identify beliefs we have stored through our lives and recognize thoughts and assumptions. Then when identified we make choices about them and make decisions if based in reality and on facts and healthy or not. Then we work on how to alter them to your own truth or break them down if came from a source that was projected onto you.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

The final decision to become a Counselor and Art Therapist while I was working as a Tech in a hospital and worked among various disciplines. I continued to enjoy interacting with others and exploring life and seemed to enjoy the process of moving through emotions and challenging beliefs to allow individuals to thrive and find their own truth

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

Therapy can be stressful to decide to go into becuase we have little accurate information and education about what is involved and how to go about finding the individual who can best address your needs and wants. I respect some are more comfortable engaging in coaching services with me instead of therapy. Both involve some education and skill building and sharing of strategies. Be honest with yourself about what you want out of it or part of life is overwhelmingly stressful and try someone who states they address what you have identified for yourself. Nothing will change if we don't make a change. Therapy is a non-judgment, neutral, holding space with another individual who is trained to help. The right relationship can change everything.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

Anxiety and stress overwhelming and becoming a barrier to your every day tasks and interactions with others, trauma or overly stressful events are bombarding you and interrupting your day, anger reactions are too often these days, there is a sense of loss and being frozen in life. These are reasons to meet with me and the gains can be: to get relief; develop strategies to calm your self; developing skills to separate your self out from the tension and others; and to be calm more often, to be in control more often, and be able to think clearly to identify your choices more often

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?

Sessions are virtual so we both take responsibility to be in safe and confidential places with working devices. Respect is always there for you to make the decision what feels comfortable to deal with and try. You are in control of your voice in the sessions. You get to pass on things at times and share sensations. I rely on you to share with me how you are to guide us in the work you want to do.

How do you work with clients with addiction?

I am very realistic with individuals in how they want to change or maintain their relationship with alcohol or other substance consumption. Everything is the decision of the individual and I respect this. I will provide education and strategies in attempts to reach consumption goals to abstinence goals

How can you provide care remotely?

Counseling and coaching services are provided virtually currently on secure telehealth platforms whether an individual or group session
