About Kelsey

Through the stress of everyday life, so many of us have learned to put our needs aside. Often, we ignore them in the service of others, overwhelm, or simply not knowing how to nurture ourselves. I help clients to develop insight around why they may do this and address the root cause of the problem for healing that lasts. It is my honor and privilege to join you on this journey.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

One day, sitting in the neuroscience lab, a colleague sat down next to me and started talking about some of their problems. I said to myself "wow, I wish I could just listen and help people like this the rest of my life..." Lucky for me, this was a career option.

What's your experience with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)?

I find EMDR to be the most efficient, effective form of trauma treatment. Other methods, such as prolonged exposure, are much more strenuous for the patient and therapist. EMDR can be used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (CPTSD). I am certified in EMDR and traditionally combine it with other therapies for CPTSD, in particular.

Why is trauma processing important?

Processing trauma is so important because it is often the root cause of clients' current dysfunction. Clients may not even realize they have suffered trauma because it is what we call complex trauma. I work with clients to identify these traumas and reprocess them to improve their relationships, emotional regulation, and self-image.
