Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I once battled my own anxiety, depression, feelings of abandonment, and family conflicts. Those personal struggles ignited a passion within me to facilitate healing and growth for others. What keeps me driven is witnessing individuals recognize their innate inner power and strength. Guiding clients towards understanding and harnessing their potential brings me immense joy and fulfillment. My personal journey fuels my commitment to helping others navigate their challenges and discover their resilience.
How does cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) work and how can it help?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that helps individuals understand and modify the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By identifying and challenging negative or distorted thought patterns, CBT aims to promote healthier interpretations of situations and more adaptive responses. Through collaboration with a therapist, individuals learn to reframe their thoughts, develop coping skills, and implement behavior changes that lead to improved emotional well-being and a greater ability to manage challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, and various other mental health issues.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
If you're hesitant about trying therapy, I want you to know that seeking help is a powerful and brave choice. It's okay to feel uncertain, but therapy provides a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges. You deserve support, and therapy equips you with tools to navigate life's complexities, develop coping strategies, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing. It's an investment in your well-being and a step toward a brighter, more empowered future.
How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
When working with clients dealing with trauma and PTSD, I employ a trauma-informed approach grounded in evidence-based techniques like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). This involves creating a safe environment, educating clients about trauma's effects, and teaching coping strategies. We work on reframing negative thoughts, processing traumatic memories, and managing triggers. Through gradual exposure and skill-building, clients learn to regulate emotions, reduce avoidance behaviors, and foster post-traumatic growth. My goal is to empower clients to heal, develop resilience, and regain control over their lives.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
For those considering working with me, I want you to know that I am a dedicated mental health professional deeply committed to your well-being and growth. With extensive experience and a compassionate approach, I am here to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges. My therapeutic style is rooted in evidence-based practices, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on identifying and transforming negative thought patterns to foster positive change. As an author of trauma workbooks, a public speaker, and a mental health consultant, I bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to our sessions. My goal is to empower you with practical tools, personalized strategies, and a deeper understanding of yourself, ultimately helping you navigate life's complexities with resilience and confidence. Your well-being is my priority, and I'm here to support you on your journey toward healing and transformation.
