About Kiana
I’m here to hold hope, be witness to your story, partner with you to rewrite unhelpful notions, and empower you. I offer relational therapy for families to improve relationships and decrease unhelpful conflict; and individual therapy sessions to support people with personal struggles, growth, emotional wellbeing. I identify as an affirmative, client-centered, trauma-informed, and inclusive therapist who tailors therapy to meet the client needs. I welcome those from diverse backgrounds and folks from marginalized/disenfranchised communities who are wanting to work on the focuses above or below.
How does family therapy work and how can it help?
Family therapy provides a safe and supportive environment to foster communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen the connections within family units. It addresses both individual and family unit challenges, empowering members to collaboratively achieve healthy dynamics. These sessions are aimed to promote growth, dialogue, and harmony.
How does child or adolescent therapy work and how can it help?
Through compassionate care and evidence-based techniques (including art and play-based techniques), Child Therapy aims to assist children in overcoming difficulties such as anxiety, trauma, or developmental hurdles. This service focuses on empowering children with the tools to develop emotion language and navigate their unique experiences with confidence. Adolescent therapeutic services are tailored to address the developmental and emotional needs of adolescents, fostering growth, resilience, and well-being. This may include but is not limited to parent or caregiver education and collaboration during treatment.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Exploring therapy options can be a both brave and nerve wracking step. I am passionate about collaboration with clients and walking with them through the healing process with a strength-based, trauma-informed lens. We will take the process at the pace that works for you.
What do therapy sessions with you look like?
My communication style is conversational, compassionate, and humorous when appropriate. I integrate cultural humility, social justice, anti-oppressive, anti-carceral approaches, evidence based techniques, and advocacy in my practice.
How can you provide care remotely?
Remote care can be provided by incorporating modalities that fit the clients’ needs. My hope is for us to: 1) unpack the past, as much as it is necessary, to make space for new experiences and opportunities 2) release intergenerational cycles and unhelpful messages you’ve been told in the past to rebuild healthy relationships with yourself and others
