How does couples therapy work and how can it help?

Couples therapy works by providing a safe and neutral space for couples to openly communicate, address conflicts, and work on improving their relationship. As a trained therapist I facilitate the sessions, helping the couple to understand each other's perspectives, improve communication, and develop strategies for resolving issues. Couples therapy can help by providing tools to strengthen the relationship, fostering empathy and understanding, and addressing underlying issues that may be impacting the relationship. It can also help couples to rebuild trust, improve intimacy, and develop healthier ways of relating to each other.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?

When working with clients presenting with anxiety, I typically start by creating a safe and supportive environment where they feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. I often use a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, and relaxation exercises to help clients understand and manage their anxiety. Additionally, I work collaboratively with clients to identify triggers and develop coping strategies to improve their overall well-being. It's important for me to tailor my approach to each individual client, as everyone's experience with anxiety is unique.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

My desire to become a therapist is rooted in my passion for nurturing, empowering, and improving my clients' quality of life and well-being. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space for each client to share their story, explore their path forward, and support them in achieving fulfillment while providing a safe and affirming place for healing. My drive to continue as a therapist comes from my dedication to helping my clients succeed in their mental health goals and healing journey.

How do you work with clients with depression?

As a therapist working with clients experiencing depression, I provide an empathetic and compassionate client-centered approach, using active listening. I exclusively use evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or interpersonal therapy. I aim to build a strong therapeutic alliance and offer a safe and supportive environment for my clients to express their thoughts and feelings. It is crucial that we collaborate to establish achievable goals while regularly monitoring progress.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

For anyone hesitant to try therapy, I would encourage them to consider the potential benefits of seeking support. Therapy can provide a safe and non-judgmental space to explore and work through challenges, gain new perspectives, and develop coping strategies. It's okay to feel unsure or nervous about starting therapy, but taking that first step can lead to positive changes and personal growth.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

As a therapist, I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for you as my client. I believe in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and collaboration. My goal is to help you gain insight, develop coping skills, and work towards positive change in your life. Additionally, I prioritize ongoing professional development to ensure that I am equipped with the latest knowledge and techniques to best support you and your mental health needs.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?

In therapy, I take a client-centered approach and utilize evidence-based practices to help clients challenge ineffective coping strategies they may have developed. The clients I work with most often are adults aged 18 and older. My specific area of specialization is working with the underlying issues causing anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-worth, codependency, and relationship issues. These types of problems are common and can significantly impact your adult life. These difficulties often stem from childhood experiences. I can help you better understand yourself by accurately pinpointing the underlying causes of your concerns. Working together, we can apply proven strategies and techniques to identify optimal solutions, achieve meaningful progress toward your goals, and create positive change without judgment or bias, guiding you toward a brighter, more fulfilling future. As your online therapist, my goal is to make sure you feel seen, heard, and validated.

How does mindfulness-based therapy (MBCT) work and how can it help?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) combines elements of cognitive therapy with mindfulness practices. It helps you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment, allowing you to understand better and manage your emotions. By incorporating mindfulness techniques, MBCT aims to prevent relapse in depression and reduce anxiety. When using this approach can help you develop a different relationship with your thoughts and emotions, leading to increased self-awareness and better emotional regulation.

How do you work with clients with self esteem issues?

As a therapist, I will create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to express your feelings and work on any self-esteem issues. I offer a supportive therapeutic relationship and will encourage you to explore the root causes of your low self-esteem. Together, we will challenge any negative thought patterns that may be affecting you. I will also provide positive reinforcement and help you set achievable goals to improve your self-esteem. Throughout our work together, I will always approach you with empathy and understanding

How does trauma focused therapy work and how can it help?

Trauma-focused therapy addresses the impact of past trauma on your mental and emotional well-being. This type of therapy helps you process and make sense of your traumatic experiences in a safe and supportive environment. By exploring the effects of trauma and learning coping strategies, you can gradually reduce your symptoms and regain a sense of control over your life. The goal of this therapy is to help you reframe your thoughts and beliefs about the trauma, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and ultimately move toward healing and recovery.
