About Klara

My name is Klara, and I'm a mental health counselor holding a limited permit, working towards full licensure. I'm incredibly passionate about helping others reach self-actualization and lead a life that is consistent with their values. I have experience working with clients who suffer from intergenerational trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and borderline personality disorder. My approach includes cognitive-behavioral, DBT, and trauma-focused interventions. However, I strive to work with clients to find interventions that work best for them and their unique situations. Additionally, my approach focuses on past experiences as they impact our present. However, I will also address the here-and-now factors that are contributing to clients' concerns.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

Ever since I've been of school-age, I wanted to work in a helping field. At the beginning, I wasn't sure of what direction to go in. However, I, like most people, struggled with natural issues that come with being human that I've overcome with the help of mental health counselors. Therefore, I am passionate about doing the work of counselors to provide clients with the help they need to live their best lives.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

Starting therapy can be particularly anxiety-provoking because it means starting the work of being honest with yourself and facing your issues. As someone who experienced fear when starting her own journey in therapy, I can tell you that it will be scary. The beginning session may be the scariest, and then you may have sessions that are more difficult than others. However, I guarantee that with the right therapist, you learn how to manage your fears and anxieties and unlock the joy of working on yourself.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?

I strive to create a safe environment for all clients even for the fact that our sessions will be virtual. Therapy sessions will start with a review of any homework assignments/self-reflection and updates to the client's past week. The meat of the session will be a deeper exploration and problem solving of any issues during the past week. Finally, the session will close with a summary and assignment of what the client can work on between this session and the next. This is a rough idea of what sessions will be like. However, each session is tailored to each individual client.
