About LaMonica

I am LaMonica, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. I was born and raised in Mississippi, and I graduated from Gentry High School. In 2009, I received my Practical Nursing Certification at Coahoma Community College. Continuing my education, I earned my Associates Degree in Nursing from Hinds Community College in 2012. Advancing further, I completed a Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing in 2015 at Walden University. Throughout my entire nursing career, my primary focus has been in Family Medicine. I began my career in a local Health Center, initially working as a staff nurse. As a Registered Nurse, I ventured into the field as a home health nurse and then transitioned to become the owner of an allied health school that trained CNAs, MAs, Phlebotomists, and Pharmacy Techs. After completing my master’s program, I opened my independent practice as a Nurse Practitioner before deciding to attend Medical School three years later. Currently, I am a fourth-year medical student at Washington University of Health and Science. Simultaneously, I am completing a third Master’s for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Wilkes University, which will be completed in April 2024. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my family and cuddling up with a good movie.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?

I am an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a Master's Degree in Nursing. I specialize as a Family Nurse Practitioner and have gained experience in various roles, including staff, home health, and allied health. I've established an independent practice and am currently pursuing my third Master's for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Wilkes University. I am dedicated, collaborative, and results-driven, with a strong focus on achieving team success.

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?

A typical session with me typically involves an open and collaborative discussion. I prioritize creating a comfortable and supportive environment where we can address your concerns or goals. Whether it's a professional consultation, educational session, or any other context, I aim to tailor our interaction to meet your specific needs. Communication is key, and I encourage questions and feedback throughout the session. My goal is to ensure that our time together is productive, informative, and aligned with your objectives.

How can you provide care remotely?

I am able to offer remote care via a variety of digital platforms and tools. Common techniques include secure messaging, video conferencing, and telehealth platforms. With the help of these technologies, we can have virtual consultations to talk about symptoms, treatment options, and other issues. Certain health metrics can also be tracked with the help of mobile health apps and remote monitoring devices. Even though there are fewer opportunities for in-person examinations in a remote setting, I can still give advice, write prescriptions when needed, and offer continuous support. The objective is to preserve the ease of remote access while guaranteeing continuity of care and effectively addressing health needs.
