For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I always tell people who are hesitant about trying therapy that it is just a conversation. Therapy is your time, we can work on whatever you would like to work. If some topics feel too difficult, we can save them until you are ready to work on them.
What's your experience with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)?
I am trained in EMDR and have used it with a number of clients and a variety of issues. I have speciality training in providing EMDR over telehealth.
How can you provide EMDR remotely?
Yes, EMDR can be provided remotely! In fact, I have a certificate in providing EMDR via online counseling.
Why is trauma processing important?
Not fully processing trauma can interfere with daily functioning in a variety of different ways (e.g., inability to focus, feeling on edge, nightmares). After working through trauma in therapy, many people find that their lives improve dramatically in a multitude of ways (e.g., work performance, relationships, ability to be present).
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
I firmly believe that therapy is your time. I will guide the session; however, I want you to feel that you've gotten the most out of our time together. I hope that you will feel comfortable letting me know what you would like to work towards in each session.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
Many people fear that if they open up about their trauma that the mental health professional will feel scared or judge them. This is not the case when working me. I have worked in a variety of settings, with many survivors of trauma and what you share with me will not scare me away or make me think differently of you.
How can you provide care remotely?
Yes, all of my therapy takes place online via a secure platform.
