Hello! My name is Maricarmen and I provide in-person individual therapy sessions in Tampa, Florida as well as telehealth sessions for any Florida resident. I work with young adults, college students, millennials, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community using a mix of mindfulness, strength-based, and solution-focused approaches to help clients process and overcome difficult moments in their lives. I've always known I wanted to be in a helping profession; I've been a teacher, a child advocate, and now I'm a therapist. I love seeing people heal and grow in real time. 

There is no wrong way to show up to therapy. Simply walking in the door (or logging in!) is the hardest step; everything else from there will come with time. Maybe you have clear goals or you just feel lost and want a place to be yourself - either way, I am here to support you.

I am trained to provide EMDR therapy for my clients who have experienced past or present trauma, grief, phobias, or other instances of distress in their life. EMDR is eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. It works by mimicking the eye movement that occurs during REM sleep to help clients process memories and emotions. Very little talking is required, which many clients prefer.
