About Maryann
I believe wholeheartedly in treating all of my clients with respect and empathy. I strive to be an authentic person that listens without judgement and will do my best to give you a new perspective on any problems or issues that stand in your way on your journey to wellness. Additionally, I am a divorced mom of two adult children and I have been through the therapeutic process myself, so I know how hard it can be to make this first step. Please reach out if you have more questions or would like to set up an appointment.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist after seeking therapy myself. I was going through a difficult time in my life and needed guidance and support. Through a friend's urging I set up my first therapy appointment. I left that first session having a plan on how to move forward and I knew at that moment I wanted to do the same thing for others that find themselves going through a tough time. I continue to love working with people going through different transition times; divorce, grief, a change in careers, or any situation that may need an outside perspective to gain clarity.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
It is normal to be hesitant about therapy! In fact most clients are, especially those trying therapy for the first time or someone that has had a bad experience in the past. I will be happy to discuss any concerns with you before your initial session.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
My therapy style is very relaxed and strengths based, I believe that your session is yours, after all you are the expert on you! Sessions will feel like a discussion or conversation, this doesn't mean I won't redirect you or gently push when needed, but do not expect an hour that is rigidly structured. I have been told that my sessions feel like talking to a friend that tells you the truth.
How can you provide care remotely?
I enjoy telehealth very much and love how it has given me the opportunity to work with people I would have never met otherwise. With telehealth therapy can be on your time and done wherever you have a private space. Additionally, I have an enclosed space where I conduct therapy. I also use a VPN and headphones for added security and privacy. Even though telehealth gives us the ability to record sessions, that is something that I would never do.
