About Nichole
Whether this is your first time seeking therapy, or not your first rodeo in the therapy arena, finding the right therapist for you is a Big Freaking Deal! You’ve likely been doing tireless research, visiting websites, unsure if you’ll find someone who truly gets you. What you want is… A therapist who is R-E-A-L, doesn’t hide behind a clipboard, nods and won’t just say “mm-hm” to everything that comes out of your mouth, or ask you 100 times “how does that make you feel?” You want a therapist whom you can sense a connection with and see that this person might understand you, better than you understand yourself. This may sound like a tall order, but you deserve to find the BEST possible person to do this life-progressing work with. The badass go-getter in me recognizes the badass go-getter in you! I’m here to help you get to work at becoming a better version of yourself. Making the first move can be tough, but I know deep down, you’ll muster up the strength you need. You’re ready to take the leap, no matter how scary it might be. You want someone who is willing to take this journey with you and push you towards the progress you want to make in your life! You’re ready to take the risk of learning new ways to handle problems that keep coming up and let go of your old ways of doing things.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I have heard of so many barriers that keep people from scheduling to get the care they need. Some of these include their family making comments that invalidate your experience of mental health, or TV misguiding you in what therapy in real life looks life, or being fearful that your problems aren't "big" enough of a deal to warrant you seeking help, or worried that the therapist you meet with will tell you that you need medication and you have already made up your mind that you don't want that, etc. Or maybe you have had a pattern your entire life of not asking for help because you view it as a sign of weakness and believe you should be able to overcome anything on your own. You name it, and I have likely heard it. I have had other clients who found even calling to schedule an appointment or sitting in a waiting room for their appointment for fear that they may run into someone who knows them also be potential barriers. If the last barrier is true for you, receiving therapy via telehealth (from myself or another provider) will make that one less thing for you to worry about. In the event some of the former reasons in the list are barriers for you, I want to give you acknowledgement that while they feel like "real reasons" you haven't sought help yet, I want to encourage you that all of the above is okay. What isn't okay, is if you continue to let them stop you from having the care and assistance you deserve and living the kind of life you want.
How can you provide care remotely?
Since COVID-19, tons of people who who were in therapy have had transfer to the format of online therapy. Mental health needs have also increased since COVID-19, and providing therapy online has risen to meet that need. Receiving quality therapy, without having to deal with traffic, not having to scavenge for parking, being able to be home with your pets and the things that make you feel the most comfortable (e.g., your furbabies, favorite blanket); who wouldn't want that?
