I have accumulated over 33 years of experience in the healthcare field, starting in medical records and later transitioning into the insurance sector. Subsequently, I assumed the role of Violence Prevention Coordinator/Facilitator, where I educated healthcare professionals on assisting individuals facing sexual or physical assault.
During this time, I also led the Ramsey County Sexual Assault Protocol Team, bringing together a multidisciplinary group in the Saint Paul area to create victim-sensitive protocols for survivors of sexual assault. Concurrently, I pursued and completed a master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Services. Opting for a different path than a PsyD, I entered the field of Nursing.
For 14 years, I dedicated my efforts to working with individuals dealing with eating disorders, finding immense fulfillment in this area. In May 2022, I accomplished my PMHNP from the University of North Dakota and subsequently worked at a psychiatric clinic in the Fargo Moorhead area for about a year before deciding to establish my private practice.
In my current practice, I collaborate with clients using a holistic and person-centered approach to help them achieve their treatment goals. I possess a sincere compassion for individuals across the lifespan grappling with mental illness. I strongly believe that both physical and mental health are integral components of optimal well-being. Within my therapeutic approach, I prioritize integrating clients' beliefs, traditions, and values into the treatment plan, acknowledging the profound significance of these elements in the therapeutic process.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Using a person-centered approach, I work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, customizing evidence-based interventions to meet their needs. To manage symptoms, we look at coping mechanisms, mindfulness practices, and cognitive-behavioral methods. Understanding the causes of anxiety through psychoeducation enables us to jointly establish reasonable resilience objectives. Frequent check-ins guarantee that the therapeutic process is in line with changing needs, enabling clients to develop useful coping skills for enhanced everyday functioning and well-being.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My desire to assist people in overcoming obstacles in life is what led me to pursue a career as a therapist. Observing the life-changing potential of therapy motivated me to seek a profession in which I could support people's development and well-being.
The significant improvements I witness in my clients are what spur me on to keep practicing as a therapist. I am committed to this work because I get to be a part of their journey, see firsthand how resilient they are, and help them through challenges. Any improvement, no matter how tiny, strengthens my commitment to assisting others in leading more satisfying lives and my belief in the therapeutic process.
How do you work with clients with depression?
I create a specialized and caring therapeutic environment for my clients who are depressed. We investigate the causes and origins of depression, create coping mechanisms, and incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapies to treat unfavorable thought patterns using evidence-based methods. The focus is on psychoeducation in order to improve comprehension and offer resources for managing symptoms. By working together to establish reasonable objectives and track advancement, my goal is to enable clients to take charge of their own healing and enhance their quality of life.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I have worked in the medical field for thirty-three years, and during that time I have witnessed the transformative power of therapy. I've seen the benefits in everything from medical records to eating disorder treatment and violence prevention. I have a varied background and have led the Ramsey County Sexual Assault Protocol Team, which speaks to my dedication to creating welcoming and sensitive environments.
After completing my master's degree in counseling and psychological services, I went into nursing with a focus on a comprehensive strategy. I collaborate with clients in my present practice utilizing a person-centered approach, appreciating their mental and physical well-being. Therapy offers a customized journey where your beliefs and values are central to the process, making it a brave step towards personal growth.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
Do you want to collaborate with me? Having worked in the medical field for more than 33 years, I have a broad background that includes treating eating disorders, preventing violence, and keeping records. I demonstrate my commitment to supportive spaces by serving as the leader of the Ramsey County Sexual Assault Protocol Team. With a master's degree in counseling, I prioritize a holistic approach in my shift to nursing. Because physical and mental health are intertwined, I place a high value on a person-centered approach in my practice. Your beliefs, traditions, and values will be deeply ingrained in the therapeutic process in a caring and cooperative setting. My goal is to assist people of all ages in achieving their goals of personal development and maximum wellbeing.
How can you provide care remotely?
Using online platforms, I am able to offer online therapy sessions and consultations as well as remote care. Depending on the comfort level and preferences of the person seeking care, this could entail messaging, phone calls, or video calls. I can collaborate on treatment plans, conduct assessments, offer counseling, and provide support through these digital channels. Regardless of geographic distances, remote care enables flexibility and accessibility, enabling connections with clients. In compliance with legal and ethical guidelines, I also guarantee the privacy and security of our communications.
