Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

I became a therapist because I saw the profound impact that mental health care can have on individuals and their families. Having worked in various settings—psychiatry, corrections, rehabilitation—I realized how critical compassionate care is for those facing mental health challenges. What motivates me to continue is seeing my clients progress and achieve a better quality of life. Mental health, like physical health, is vital, and I am driven by the opportunity to support my clients in their journey toward healing, resilience, and empowerment. Helping others find balance and joy in their lives gives me a sense of purpose every day.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?

I understand that taking the first step into therapy can be intimidating, but I want you to know that therapy is a safe space where you won’t be judged. It’s okay to feel uncertain, but therapy is an opportunity to understand yourself better, manage difficult emotions, and develop the tools you need to navigate life’s challenges. Think of it as an investment in your mental well-being. You don’t have to go through things alone. We’ll work together at your pace to address whatever is weighing on you, and in time, therapy can become a place of comfort and growth.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?

My therapy sessions are designed to be a collaborative and supportive experience, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. During our sessions, I focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. We will start with a thorough assessment to understand your mental health, followed by setting goals that align with your personal well-being. I use a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, and coaching, to help you gain insights and develop effective coping strategies. Whether it’s medication management or psychotherapy, I ensure that every session empowers you to take control of your mental health journey.
