How do you work with clients with relationship issues?
Yes, I am a couple's therapist. I specialize in helping couples using the EFT model of therapy and some of the Gottman methods. I help couples with conflict, perpetuating issues, relational disconnect, infidelity, and betrayal, using an attachment lense. I also work with same-sex couples, siblings, and parent and child relationships.
How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Yes, I work with clients with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other diagnosis.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Working as an admissions counselor in colleges and universities, I observed a lot of youth and their families interacting when faced with the extremely taxing task of choosing a career path or a college. Many times I would see the families putting blame on their child or their spouse and feeling frustrated and angry with what seemed other things going on in their lives. I always wanted to be able to do more with these teens and families, to help them not just through the career part. The desire to train and help teens, couples and families were so strong that it saw me through many years of college, education, and training. I strongly believe that relationships impact our wellbeing, our health, and our choices.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
Therapy/counseling is a big step and it may sound daunting or scary for some. Therapy is beneficial if one finds a therapist that is a good fit for them in about 5 or 6 sessions. Therapy can be just someone holding a safe space for you to be your authentic self, vent, and think out loud. It can also be a place where you can find a kind mirror to show your reflection and help us see a different solution. Someone can be there with you through your journey, whatever that may be.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I am very friendly, warm, and compassionate. I hold a safe space for your perspective, outlook, and feelings. We will explore what areas you bring in to the room. I am very authentic, open, and honest about whats on my mind and I ask you to help me clarify my understanding.
What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
The first few sessions are about me getting to learn about you and your worldview. I would need to adopt your perspective and see you and hear you. I strive to hold a safe space for you to be authentic, explore and be vulnerable. Once I learn about you, then what you feel would make sense to me too.
How can you provide care remotely?
Yes, at this time, I only provide telehealth through a secure portal.
