About Richard
Hello, I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who enjoys working with individuals from ages 18 to 65 who are seeking a variety of treatment options to improve their mental health. In addition to medication management, I can offer several therapy and biofeedback resources to help manage and improve complex mental health issues and overall daily function. For my ADHD clients, I offer nonstimulant medications as well as biofeedback options, but I do not prescribe amphetamines for this diagnosis. I specialize in treating adults and veterans who are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, brain injury, sleep issues, and ADHD. For those challenged with treatment resistant depression, I have access to resources that provide both Ketamine and TMS services throughout the Dallas area. I am licensed in both Texas and Missouri. I believe in developing rapport, cultivating trust, and working with my clients where they are at while offering them alternative options (not just medications) for their mental health journey.
Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My journey to becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner was driven by a profound desire to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Witnessing the impact of mental health challenges on individuals and their families inspired me to pursue a career where I could provide compassionate and effective care. What motivates me to continue is the resilience and growth I see in my clients. Helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges, witnessing their progress, and empowering them to achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding. I am dedicated to ongoing learning and integrating new, evidence-based practices to offer the best possible care to my clients.
For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
To those hesitant about trying therapy, I would like to reassure you that seeking help is a courageous and vital step towards improving your mental health and overall quality of life. Therapy is a collaborative and empowering process where you are not alone. It's about finding the right support and tools to navigate your challenges. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your emotions and experiences openly. Remember, it's okay to ask for help, and starting therapy could be the beginning of a positive and transformative journey for you.
What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
Prospective clients should know that I am deeply committed to developing a strong therapeutic rapport and cultivating trust with my clients. My approach is holistic, focusing not only on medication management but also on offering alternative treatments such as therapy and biofeedback. I specialize in treating adults and veterans dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, brain injury, sleep issues, and ADHD. I emphasize creating a calm, relaxed, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to express their true emotions and intentions. My goal is to meet clients where they are and support them with personalized care plans tailored to their unique needs.
How can you provide care remotely?
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I offer comprehensive remote care services to individuals aged 18 to 65, utilizing telehealth platforms to ensure accessibility and convenience. Through secure video conferencing, I conduct thorough assessments, provide medication management, and deliver various therapeutic interventions. Additionally, I incorporate biofeedback resources remotely to help clients manage and improve their mental health issues. This approach allows me to maintain a high standard of care while accommodating clients' schedules and eliminating geographical barriers.
